So Triple J’s Hottest 100 is officially O-V-A for another year. How’d your nom noms pull up in the countdown? I don’t think there are any surprises as for Thrift Shop getting number one. I mean, it’s usually pretty obvious every year isn’t it, and this year was no exception! Here’s my top 10 in no particular order (yes I was one of those annoying people that voted for Macklemore too hehe):
Haim – Don’t Save Me
I feel like a 70′s teenage goddess when I hear this song. Imagine playing it loudly on your cassette player as you cruise through the streets in your boyfriend’s Chevy Camaro.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Thrift Shop {ft. Wanz}
It’s catchy, funny and made going to Savers not as stinky.
Hilltop Hoods – Rattling The Keys To The Kingdom
A return to old school, raw sounding Aussie hip hop with an awesome film clip that pays homage to rest.
Icona Pop – I Love It {ft. Charli XCX}
This was my number one song, it’s just so up and go, it makes me want to dance!! Oh and I am so a 90′s bitch. I don’t care, I love it!!
Frank Ocean – Lost
Such a beautiful song. It’s cool, calm and collected. And it makes me want to travel, Miami, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Spain, Looooost.
alt-J – Breezeblocks
Eerie, eclectic, clever. An amazing new sound. A fucking creepy film clip though.
Calvin Harris – Sweet Nothing {ft. Florence Welch}
Another party tune. Great mix of party boy Harris and lungs-a-million Welch.
Electric Guest – This Head I Hold
Oooo jazz hands! Grab a hair brush and sing loudly.
Major Lazer – Get Free {ft. Amber Coffman}
Takes me away to a place far away. Asia, Africa, the lower socio-parts of the US of A. Wherever life is tougher than how good we have it here. Lose yourself in this song.
Of Monsters And Men – Mountain Sound
Probably my tenth favourite song. Though it’s cruisey, great for road tripping and reminds me of shindigging with bands like Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero’s and the likes.
